Mr. Riley is distinguished for more than 50 years of hard work in his line of work. As the executive of his firm, he utilizes a robust skill set and years of experience to aid clients in their financial endeavors. Throughout the years, Mr. Riley has worked at numerous reputable firms, managing and directing programs, as well as holding executive positions. The experience gained during his career allows him to offer some of the best services as possible. From 1970 to 1980, he provided these services as the Chief Executive Officer and President of F.L. Putnam Investment Management Company. Around the same time, he began working as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Marsh & McLennan Asset Management, now known as Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. After these positions, Mr. Riley accepted the role of Senior Vice President at the American Express company until discovering Prudential Financial, Inc. From the 1980s onward, Mr. Riley worked at Prudential and its branches in different capacities. He served as the Chairman of the Prudential Realty Management Group and for a time was the President of the Prudential Asset Management Company. In the late 1990s, Mr. Riley set his sights on new roles, working for the Dreyfus Corporation, MBSC Corporation, the John F. Kennedy Enterprises, the Leggat McCall Properties and J.W. Childs Associates, L.P.
The success of Mr. Riley’s career was hard-won. He first earned an AB from the College of the Holy Cross in 1951. He graduated from West Point in 1952. He continued at Harvard University, receiving an MBA from the prestigious institution in 1953. That same year, Mr. Riley joined with the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. He served his country until 1962 and retired as a colonel from the US Army in 1978. Mr. Riley’s work has garnered attention over the years, resulting in several accolades. He received a Silver Medal from the Axiom Business Book Awards, and Financial World Magazine named him the Chief Executive Officer of the Year twice, in 1975 and 1979. He has also received distinction through Marquis Who’s Who, earning a place among Top Industry Experts and as a Worldwide Humanitarian.
In addition to being distinguished for his role in the financial services realm, Mr. Riley has remained active in his community with civic duties. Mr. Riley has been an associate trustee of the College of the Holy Cross, and been on the board of directors for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. He has overseen the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as well as contributed as a member of the financial committee for the medical center. In addition, Mr. Riley was the Chairman of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Cohasset Library Trust and a trustee for BC High. In 2011, Mr. Riley published a biography, “Piercing the Irish Ceiling.” He is a member of the Union Club of Boston and The University Club of New York.
