Joyce Charlene Atwood, Director of Resource Development at Ohio University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic management and administration.
Ms. Atwood has held her current position as the Director of Resource Development at Ohio University since 2008. She has also been the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction at the institution during the same time. Prior to accepting this role, Ms. Atwood amassed a wealth of experience in at the Chillicothe City School District, where she worked as a teacher and administrator since the mid-1960s. Additionally, Ms. Atwood has provided her services as a consultant in study skills for management in industry with Pickaway-Ross Joint Vocational School District in the 1980s, and a member of the child care advisory board in Portsmouth, Ohio from 1993 to 1995.
In order to provide the quality academic services she has been known to deliver, Ms. Atwood received a Bachelor of Science in education from Ohio State University in 1965. She continued at the institution to receive a master’s in education in 1969. She has also followed up with postgraduate work at the institution and also at Ashland University. She is a certified teacher, certified supervisor and certified administrator.
Highlighting the quality of her work is a number of awards and accolades she has received throughout her career. Ms. Atwood was nominated for the Citizen of the Year Award by Junior Chamber International, Inc. in 2015. She received an Educator Emeritus Award in 2012. The Red Cross recognized her charity and volunteer work with the Red Cross Hero Award in 2008.
