Susan Porter Rose, Management Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Administration.

After a prolific career in the halls of government and as an academic administrator, Ms. Rose now offers her services as a freelance consultant. Her most recent official role was from 1993 to 1998, as the commissioner of the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, and from 1989 to 1993 she served as chief of staff for First Lady Barbara Bush.  More recently, Ms. Rose participated with the Yale Global Alumni Leadership Exchange Program, and from 1993 to 2002 she held a seat with the board of directors for the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. She holds an honorary LHD from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Ms. Rose’s rewarding career began in Cincinnati, with her parents Elmer Johnson Porter and Dorothy Porter. She earned a BA from Earlham College in 1963 and served as a staff assistant to Congressman Richard L. Roudebush of Indiana, before working as an assistant dean at the George School. In 1970 Ms. Rose earned an MS from Indiana State University and became assistant director of admissions at Holyoke College. She first entered the white house as director of scheduling for First Lady Pat Nixon, and stayed on as an assistant to First Lady Betty Ford. Ms. Rose went on to work with the Justice Department and assisted Vice President Dan Quayle before joining the Bush administration in 1981.

As a dedicated contributor of the executive branch, Ms. Rose has given back to her alma mater as a former president and alumni council member of Earlham College, which recognized her with a 1992 Distinguished Alumni Award. She remains a trustee of the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. Ms. Rose also received a 1991 Distinguished Alumni Award from Indiana State University. She has been honored with an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, a Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award, and inclusion as a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert. Ms. Rose is featured with Who’s Who of American Women, in addition to the pages of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World. Ms. Rose married Jonathan Chapman Rose in 1980, and has a son, Benjamin.
