James D. Robinson III, Co-Founder and General Partner at RRE Ventures GP VII, LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Business.

Mr. Robinson became involved in his profession because he has always been fascinated with change, and not fearing change has allowed him to grow within his industry and to his acquisition of Wall Street firms. His commitment to never giving up has allowed him to work for three major companies, American Express, JP Morgan Chase, and Coca-Cola,  where he was on the board from 1975 to 2015. At American Express, he supported women in hiring for senior jobs both to surround himself with smart, hard working people and to inspire the men around him to do the same. Mr. Robinson is a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and has appeared in the pages of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World.

“Quality, quality, quality” were the key words Mr. Robinson’s father told him, and which has guided him in hiring strong people. His parents have banking backgrounds, which allowed him to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology and to earn an MBA from Harvard University in 1961. His mentors were George Champion, Tom Gates, Howard Clark and Gene Black Sr. In addition to working with three legacy firms, Mr. Robinson has held a seat on numerous boards of directors, and was the non-executive chairman of Bristol-Myers Squibb from 2005 to 2008.

Mr. Robinson served to the rank of lieutenant with the U.S. Naval Reserve, and wrote two books, “Full Steam Ahead” and “Inflation Overkill”. He is the husband of Linda Gosden and the proud father of Emily, Jim, Nicholas, and Olivia, as well as the grandfather of English, Alexandria, Phoebe, Grace, Jim, and Maggie. At RRE Ventures, Mr. Robinson has branched out into technology because he feels that change is driven by technology.
