Mr. Schnapp has held his position since 1989, joining Greenberg Traurig after serving as chief of the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida. He has been a Miami attorney since moving from New York in 1982, and is proud of his work in receiving the second ever deferred prosecution from the U.S. Supreme Court on the William Kennedy Smith case, as well as his involvement in the indictment of General Manuel Noriega. He has been rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell for 27 years, and is a recognized resource in white collar criminal law. In the coming years, Mr. Schnapp hopes to continue practicing law, mentoring younger lawyers, and participate in community projects.

Born to Ben and Sally Schnapp in New York City in 1951, Mr. Schnapp always wanted to be a federal prosecutor, and attended the prestigious New York University to earn a BEE in 1972, followed by a JD from Hofstra University in 1976. His early training as an associate of Cravath, Swaine, & Moore in New York was very informative, and in 1982 he joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Florida as an assistant. In 1985, Mr. Schnapp was appointed chief of the public corporate section, and two years later he became chief of the criminal division. He attributes his success to good mentoring, as well as the hard work ethics instilled in him by his parents.

Mr. Schnapp has been honored with numerous awards, including inclusion with Best Lawyers in America from 2004 to 2017, the Chambers Band One Lawyers from 23004 to 2017, the National Law Journal Trail Blazers Award for White Collar Crime, and the Legal Luminary Award for White Collar Crime from the Dade County Bar Association. He continues to serve the White Collar Crime Institute planning committee of the American Bar Association, and is the president in the Southern District of Florida of the National Association of Assistant U.S. Attorneys. Mr. Schnapp was selected to appear in the 13th Edition of Who’s Who in American Law.
