Roy C. Richards, author and Internet radio program host; former Insurance Company Executive, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Management.
Mr. Richards is founder and CEO of Middle Age Renewal Training and host of the weekly Internet radio program, “Middle Age Can Be Your Best Age,” a show all about the challenges and potential triumphs of middle age. He is the author of two published books, “A Mid-Life Challenge WAKE UP!” (2006) and “WAKE UP CAPTAIN AND CREW: Restart Your Engines!” (2007). Previously, from 1993 through 2010, Mr. Richards was Executive Vice President of MJ Kelly Company of Iowa after three years as President of the RDS Group. He feels his success is based on discovering what he is really good at and utilizing those skills to the benefit of others, thereby taking control of his life rather than allowing events to control him. Away from work, he places a heavy emphasis on health, community service and family relationships. Mr. Richards and his wife Gloria Kay Wallis raised two children to adulthood, the late Kristen Leigh and Geoffrey Stephen. Mr. Richards is recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has appeared in two editions of Who’s Who in the Midwest.
Born in Philadelphia to Riley Harry and Eloise Richards, Mr. Richards earned a BA, magna cum laude, from Carleton College and completed an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1967. He became a financial analyst for the Ford Motor Company for three years, followed by a post as senior financial analyst of Rockwell International. While working as manager of operations for Commercial Union Insurance, he earned a 1977 Scholarship Recognition from the Society of Property and Casualty Underwriters, and is still a member of the organization.
Mr. Richards has served a number of different firms over a prolific career, most notably Chief Financial Officer at Western Employers Insurance Co. He is a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter. In his present role as author, coach and Internet radio host, Mr. Richards aims to inspire folks of middle age and beyond that their crowning achievements are not all behind them and that the second half of life can be the best years ever. In his free time, he enjoys jogging, pleasure reading, hiking, dramatics, collecting old phonograph records and college athletics.
