Thomas Patrick Kennedy, Retired Financial Executive, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Finance.
Mr. Kennedy always knew what he could do next, and has attained his current role by being an ambitious individual. In his most recent role, he was the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Effie Technologies, a role he held from 1984 to 2010. He has served with numerous broadcast companies, notably as a former treasurer, former senior vice president, and former chief financial officer of the Children’s Television Workshop, now the Sesame Workshop, known for its long-running children’s program “Sesame Street.”
A New York native, Mr. Kennedy served with the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1955 in Korea, and was working as an accountant before attending university. He worked with Emerson Radio & TV while going to Saint Peter’s University at night, earned a BS in 1958 and developing an interest in finance. Mr. Kennedy continued postgraduate coursework with Seton Hall University, and worked with CBS from 1958 to 1967, followed with a position at the Ford Foundation. He became director of finance with the Public Broadcasting Laboratory from 1967 to 1969, and joined the Children’s Television Workshop in 1969.
Mr. Kennedy has also held executive roles as president of Tomken Management, vice president of Vantage Securities, and numerous other firms. He is a member of the Finance Executives Institute, the American Association of Individual Investors, The American Legion, the Korean War Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the New York Athletic Club, and the Knights of Columbus in the Fourth Degree. Mr. Kennedy is a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert and a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
