Akbar R. Tamboli, Consultant at Thornton Tomasetti Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Engineering.

Mr. Tamboli is the principal of Thornton Tomasetti in its offices in New York, and has held the role along with the title of senior vice president since 1999. He is a professional engineer and the author of such books as “Tall and Super Tall Buildings: Planning and Design” and “Handbook of Steel Connection Design and Details”. He has also been invited as an instructor to such illustrious institutions as his alma mater Stanford University, and the New York Polytechnic Institute, now the Tandon School of Engineering at New York University. In addition to writing on design and engineering, Mr. Tamboli also volunteers his time on cancer fund drives in New Jersey.

A recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, Mr. Tamboli has appeared in the pages of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World.  He was born in Babhulgon, India, and attended the University of Poona, now the Savitribai Phule Pune University. Mr. Tamboli earned a MS from Stanford University in 1967, and is now a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is known for 38 years of engineering experience and an ability to solve structural design problems, as well as his management of structural steel and concrete projects in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
