Elaine G. Adevai, Executive Director at New Vista for Families, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Psychology.

Ms. Adevai is most proud of starting her own independent shelter, and has facilitated support for groups and private counseling including marriage, relationship, bereavement, and family crisis. She has worked in the mental health field for 33 years, and has held her current role for eight, combining oversight of operations with setting up programs, training, advocacy, and performing therapy. Her shelter is known for working with private clients, arranging permanent housing, and offering shelter to domestic violence victims. Ms. Adevai is a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert and a recipient of the Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award, as well as an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. She has appeared in Who’s Who of American Women.

After earning experience as a psychologist, Ms. Adevai formed a strong desire to help others in need, and has built her career on communication skills and perseverance. She hopes to continue expanding her private practice and her shelter program to accommodate more families. An alumna of Douglass College, Ms. Adevai earned a BS in pre-medical studies and went on to complete a MS in clinical psychology with Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. She was recognized with a 2009 Distinction Award from the Staten Island Chapter of the World of Women.
