John Warren Davis, Consultant, Retired Real Estate Broker, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Contract Management.
Mr. Davis led a fruitful career in defense contract management, and worked with the U.S. Navy in various respects as a contract specialist before retiring. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972, and later became a founding sponsor of the U.S. Army Museum. He became a specialist in contract management while working in real estate, and was a delegate for San Diego State University to the National Academy Conference for Contract Management Educators for several years, as well as an adjunct professor of the university. Mr. Davis is a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and has appeared in Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the West, and Who’s Who in the World.
After earning a BA in political science from Drake University, Mr. Davis joined the Army and returned to the states to earn an AA in real estate from San Diego City College. In 1979, he transitioned from a role as real estate sales staff to join the Naval Ocean Systems Center, going on to the Office of Naval Research as a contract administrator. He became a warranted ordering officer and contract specialist of the General Service 1102-11 Naval Weapons Station, and went on as contract specialist with the Gen Service 1102-12 Navy Space Systems Activity from 1986 to 1988. In 1987 he earned a MS in acquisition and contract management from West Coast University, and worked with Defense Contract Management Command from 1998 to 2000. He was senior vice president of the Azan Corp. Group in San Diego, and a subcontract administrator of Kellogg, Brown, and Root before becoming a consultant.
Mr. Davis has continued to attend courses with Walden University and the Kellogg Brown and Root Procurement Academy in Houston, and was inspired to enter a challenging career with a dynamic environment and an ability to grow. He is most proud of receiving the Author in Business Award from San Diego Book Awards, and is the author of such works as “Paperless Contracting” and “Palm Springs Salad” in addition to numerous articles. For his military service, Mr. Davis received an Army Commendation Medal, and was decorated with a War Medal from the Sons of the American Revolution. He was recently honored with a Mariners Award from Holland American Lines in 2016, and is a fellow of the National Contract Management Association, in addition to lifetime memberships with several other societies.
