Donald H. Layton, CEO at Freddie Mac, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance and business.
Since 2012, Mr. Layton has contributed his robust skill set and services to the company that makes homeownership a possibility for thousands of Americans. In addition to holding the role of CEO with the company, he has served on the board of directors for the same amount of time. He brings to these positions decades of experience, starting from way back in the day when he worked as a research assistant while matriculating at Harvard Business School. He earned an MBA from the institution in 1972. Prior to that, he earned a MS in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS in economics from the university as well in 1972.
Prior to accepting his current role, Mr. Layton served as the chairman of E*TRADE Financial Corporation from 2007 to 2008, and as the company’s CEO the following year. He also has extensive experience with JPMorgan Chase & Co, having worked as the Vice-Chairman from 1995 to 2004 and the senior executive vice president of Chemical Banking Corporation (now JPMorgan Chase & Co). In 1975, he was hired as a trainee with Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company (now JPMorgan Chase & Co), and worked his way to the position of senior managing director in more than two decades. In addition to these positions, Mr. Layton has worked with the American International Group, as a senior advisor with the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association and with Assured Guaranty Ltd.
Mr. Layton became chair emeritus of Partnership for Homeless in 2015. He had started out as the chairman of the board of directors with the organization in 2005. From 1998 to 2006, he also served on the board of directors for the Foreign Policy Association. Additionally, he is chair emeritus of the Harbor Club of New York City.
