Peter Quintus Eschweiler, Retired Planning Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Municipal Planning Administration.
After consulting with the Greenway Community Council in the Hudson River Valley of New York from 1991 to 2000, Mr. Eschweiler is now retired from his role as a city planner. He came from a family of architects, and when the stars did not align for him in that field he decided to pursue city planning at Cornell University, ultimately meeting great mentors who guided him through the political process. He later received much support while working as chief planner of Westchester County, and ultimately served the county from 1967 until 1991, becoming commissioner of planning in 1969. Mr. Eschweiler is particularly proud of creating a senior housing facility in Pleasantville, New York.
Mr. Eschweiler is a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert and a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, featured in Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World. He earned a BA followed by a Master of Regional Planning from Cornell University, and served to the rank of lieutenant with the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1960. Mr. Eschweiler did his early work as an associate planner of Frederick P. Clark & Associates in Rye, NY, before arriving in Westchester. He is also a recipient of a 2005 Top Honor Award from the Westchester County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.
Among numerous awards, Mr. Eschweiler holds a 2004 Outstanding Community Service Award from the Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce, a 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation, and a 1997 Meritorious Service Award from the board of directors in the North Atlantic region of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. He was also recognized by the New York State Association of Counties. In his civic sphere, Mr. Eschweiler remains chairman of the Mount Pleasant Public Library Men’s Group, and was a member of the advisory board of the Westchester County Storm Water in 2012.
