J. George Harris, Health Products Executive (Retired), has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care management.
Growing up, Mr. Harris was surrounded by stories of his late grandfather, who was lauded for his work as a doctor in Kings Mountain, NC, inspiring him to pursue a career in medicine. When Mr. Harris got to college, however, he found that he had a greater passion for mathematics. He earned a Bachelor of Arts at Duke University in 1960 and was soon hired by the American Hospital Supply Corporation, where he worked for more than 20 years. Despite not becoming a doctor, Mr. Harris has been able to make a difference in the health care field by working in management. Throughout his career, he has worked for companies such as the Mariner Health Group, and he founded and presided over the Pinnacle Care Corporation.
In addition to his work as a health care executive, Mr. Harris has served on the board of directors for companies such as the Union Special Corporation, Monoclonal Antibodies, Inc., Electro Nucleonics, Inc., Electro-Biology, Inc., Dialogic Communications Corporation, and the Scientific Apparatus Manufacturers Association. He is affiliated with the Senior Corporation of Retired Executives.
In his earlier years, Mr. Harris’ athletic success on the football field aided in his education. He was awarded a Football Scholarship for Duke University and was an All American during his high school years. On a civic level, Mr. Harris has been involved with the Highland Park Hospital and the McCormick Seminary.
Mr. Harris credits his education, his drive, and God for his success in life. He has always tried to do the best he could in any situation. Looking toward the future, he endeavors to spend more time with his family and traveling. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis, reading, watching plays and movies.
