Peter Hooper, Managing Director and Chief Economist at Deutsche Bank AG, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in banking and international economy.
An expert in the field of economics, Dr. Hooper currently serves as managing director and chief economist at Deutsche Bank AG. Inspired by his mentor, Professor Bert Malkial, while studying at Princeton University, Dr. Hooper decided to pursue a career in economics and he set out in his own career to make a change in the world of banking. In the years since, he has worked on the national and international levels, leading teams and institutions. He started working as an economist with the Federal Reserve Board in 1973 and was tapped for the Chief of Quantitative Studies position at the Board not long after. He was then made Director of the Division of International Finance, and remained in this position until 1999. In the 1990s, Dr. Hooper joined with Deutsche Bank AG as the Acting Director. In 1999, he was named Chief Economist and Managing Director of the company. Dr. Hooper also worked with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 2007 to 2017.
Dr. Hooper earned a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University in 1969. He continued his education at the University of Michigan, receiving a Master of Arts in 1971 and a PhD in 1975. A respected voice in the field, he has published and edited several works, including the books, “External Deficits and the Dollar: The Pit and the Pendulum” and “Empirical Macroeconomics for Interdependent Economies.” He has also been involved with a number of professional organizations, including the American Economic Association, the American Bankers Association, the Economic Club of New York, and the Economic Leadership Club with the University of Michigan.
In addition to his professional roles, Dr. Hooper has served as a guest scholar for the Brookings Institute. On a civic level, he has provided his community with a wealth of services. He has been involved as treasurer of Cub Scout Pack 618 with the Boy Scouts of America and was President of the Upper Dam Roge Association with the Rangeley Plantation. Dr. Hooper is a founding member of the Monetary Policy Forum and has coached youth soccer and baseball.
