Richard Charles Yancey, Retired Investment Banker, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in government and corporate financing.
An esteemed figure in the domestic and international banking industry, Mr. Yancey has accrued nearly 40 years of professional excellence in his areas of expertise. Employed with Dillon, Read & Co. since 1952, he rose through the ranks as an associate, vice president, managing director, director, and senior advisor until his retirement in 1992. Alongside his professional endeavors, Mr. Yancey acted as a senior advisor for Ad Media Partners, Inc., chair and director of the Czech and Slovak American Enterprise Fund, former partner of Board Whittle Communications LP, and former member of the board of directors for Principal Funds.
In preparation for his illustrious career, Mr. Yancey sought formal education, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Whitman College in 1949. He completed his education at Harvard University, earning a Master of Business Administration, with distinction, in 1952. He has since maintained affiliation with several organizations, including the Harvard Club of New York City, the Pilgrims of the United States, and NYSSA.
Mr. Yancey has also participated in a number of civic engagements in his community, acting as a trustee with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus Academy, former chair of the board of directors of WM Group of Funds, former member of the board of overseers at Whitman College, and former trustee of Plymouth Church. Furthermore, he has served as former president of Plymouth Church, former trustee of the New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital (formerly the New York Infirmary-Beekman Downtown Hospital), and on the board of directors of the Brooklyn Chamber Music Society.
Interested in his profession subsequent to serving as a veteran, Mr. Yancey desired to provide financing to companies in both the United States and abroad. In recognition of his exceptional accomplishments, he was honored with the President’s USA Freedom Corps Call to Service Award from the United States Agency for International Development in 2006. Married to Mary Ann Shaffer since 1956, Mr. Yancey is the proud father of three children. Notably, he has been inducted into several editions of Who’s Who publications, including Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the East.
