As chair of the board, Mr. Berkley demonstrates an expertise in the paper goods industry derived from his 56 years of experience. During his career, he served as the company’s chief executive officer and president from 1962 until 1988. Additionally, he has impacted his field through his work as chair of the Global Envelope Alliance since 2005.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Berkeley earned a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University in 1948 and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University in 1950. A leader and innovative thinker, he is a member of the advisory council for the Smithsonian National Postal Museum, director of Turn the Page KC, and former president and executive committee member of the Envelopes Manufacturers Association.
In addition to his primary roles, Mr. Berkley is active in his community and with civic organizations. He has been on the board of directors member for the Institute for Educational Leadership, director of the Missouri Family and Community Trust, member of advisory board for the National Parks Conservation Association, member of the board of directors for the National Minority Supplier Development Council, chair of the Local Investment Commission, board of directors member for Chamber of Commerce, member of the board of directors for the Kansas City Area Health Planning Council, and chair of the National Alliance of Businessmen of Kansas City. Mr. Berkeley’s civic work has led him in achieving awards such as Community Guardian Award by the Ad Hoc Group Against Crime, the Hugh J. Zimmer Award for Excellence in Urban Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, an Adele Hall Spirit of Caring Award from United Way of Greater Kansas City, and the Robert H. Meneilly Stand UP Speak Out Award from the Mainstream Coalition.
As he looks toward the future, Mr. Berkley intends to continue in his work on the executive board for Tension Envelope Corporation while actively seeking new projects and opportunities in his community to make an impact far and wide – as well as in his own backyard.
