He started his journey as an economic specialist at Citibank (now Citigroup Inc.) in 1971, and continued on to positions such as economist at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Lionel Edie &Co., chief economist, strategist, director of research, and senior vice president at Manufacturers Hanover Investment Corporation, and chief investment officer at Nomura Asset Management Co., LTD.
In 2000, Mr. Ezrati changed his career, deviating from typical investment and portfolio management responsibilities by taking a strategist position at Lord Abbett. The risk made his life more interesting and led to a variety of publications, including “Thirty Tomorrows,” published by Thomas Dunne Books through St. Martin’s Press in 2014, and “Kawari: How Japan’s Economic and Cultural Transformation Will Alter the Balance of Power Among Nations,” in 1999, as well as “Bite-Sized Investing,” “The National Interest,” “The City Journal,” and “Investing for Beginners.” He officially retired from the field in 2015.
Mr. Ezrati prepared for his endeavors with a Master of Social Science in mathematics economics from the University of Birmingham, England, in 1973, and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University at Buffalo in 1969. He is a member of the American Economic Association and the National Association of Scholars. Now that Mr. Ezrati has more free time, he enjoys pursuing hobbies like riding and training horses and skiing. Active in his community, he maintains affiliation with the Old Westbury Horsemen’s Foundation and volunteers with the Methodist Church.
