Joyce E. Hug, Founder and Director of Sacred Waters, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in religious and spiritual leadership.
The Sacred Waters Center had been a dream of Ms. Hug’s for more than 20 years, and in March 2000, she was able to realize this dream, opening the center on 4.3 acres of land. Since its founding it has grown into a place where people can gather and share their knowledge and experiences as they travel on their spiritual journeys to God. With a mission to enrich and renew lives, nurture and promote spirituality, study religion through a universal lens, and find like-minded individuals in a sanctuary and philosophy positive setting, Ms. Hug designed the center to bridge together Eastern and Western religions with the hopes of having people experience the commonality in all religions. The nonprofit hosts events such as spiritual book groups, private mediation, yoga, astrology, sound circles, and various other forms of workshops and spiritual groups.
Ms. Hug’s has the opportunity to wake up every morning and feel a joy in what she is doing. She attributes her success in this aspect due to her passion, which has fueled her in this endeavor. Her hard work has paid off, and in 2017, Sacred Waters was honored as one of The Best Retreat Centers in Mishawaka. Prior to opening Sacred Waters, Ms. Hug was a professional musician. She still engages in her musical talents with different workshops and practices.
Ms. Hug holds a Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis. Throughout her time with the center, she has led groups on holy pilgrimages to India. She has also helped edit the Bengali version of a biography of Holy Mother Sarada Devi into English, and she began Sacred Water Kirtan at the center in 2005.
