John Lynch, Consultant Planner and Principal at John J. Lynch, AICP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in city planning.

Growing up in the Bronx, Mr. Lynch first became interested in city issues when he saw the deterioration of his home city. He majored in politics and sociology in college, but didn’t know how to apply it to the real world. In 1985, he moved to Brooklyn, looked into the Pratt Institute, and found courses on city planning. Something clicked for him then, and he realized he had found his niche. Mr. Lynch ended up graduating from the school with a Master of Science in 1990, as well as from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1985. He also became a certified planner via the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association, a certified environmental inspector via the Environmental Assessment Association, and a NYS Notary Public.

Now, Mr. Lynch is putting his skills to use as a consultant planner and principal for his eponymous company. His responsibilities include representing cities, towns, companies and individuals seeking permits, and evaluating zoning permits, urban design, land use approvals, economic development, and demographics. Mr. Lynch’s goal is to make things as easy as possible for applicants and to assist them in navigating entire projects. To accomplish this, he often sits with the boards making the decisions. Some of his most notable projects have included the New York Water Taxi, Hudson River Park, Amsterdam Park, and South Brother Island, as well as shopping centers, corporate buildings, and residential developments.

Over the years, Mr. Lynch has also garnered experience as a consultant and the director of planning for Tim Miller Associates, Inc., a member of the Architecture Planning Office and a consultant for the city of Peekskill, a consulting planner for Jed S. Marcus, Esq., and a consultant for Westchester County. Further, he is the financial secretary of the Sons of Italy and a member of the American Planning Association and the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation.

In recognition of his efforts, Mr. Lynch was selected for inclusion in the second edition of Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
