Alan Jonas, Financial Planner, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in financial services.

Alan has been a stockbroker, investment advisor and financial planner for over 50 years, starting out at Merrill Lynch and joining several other brokerage firms during his notable career. In just two years at Merrill, he was appointed to the firm’s illustrious Executive Club. After three years of arduous study, he earned a coveted CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. He originated the concept of bringing Wall Street to Main Street by opening up the nation’s first financial services firm located in a shopping center. Named The Financial Store, it soon expanded to banks and credit unions in California and Texas.

Prior to his career as a stockbroker, Alan was a writer and producer at WMGM Radio and NBC Radio News in New York. As a special assistant to the president of the Writers Guild of America East, NBC dispatched him to the United Nations during the Cuban Missile Crisis where he conducted exclusive TV interviews with UN Ambassador Adlai Stevenson and Secretary-General U-Thant.

In San Francisco, as an investment specialist at Sutro & Co., he was the stock market and financial reporter for radio and TV stations. He also lectured to thousands of adults at various schools, colleges, associations and service clubs on various financial subjects such as How to Read “The Wall Street Journal,” Estate Planning with Living Trusts, Medicare and Long-Term Care. He was selected by Hewlett-Packard to be its primary lecturer on pre-retirement planning in its Santa Rosa, CA. offices.

Alan has been quoted in many newspapers and magazines including being featured in “Money” Magazine’s Investment Roundtable. He also devoted his time to community service as presidents of the Oakland Kiwanis Club, the Oakland Museum’s Business Membership Committee and the Marin, CA chapter of the Meals For Millions Foundation.
