Donald James Hudson, Retired Stock Exchange Executive, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the financial industry.

A celebrated figure in the stock exchange industry, Mr. Hudson has accrued more than 40 years of professional excellence in his areas of expertise. The former president of the Vancouver Stock Exchange for 13 years, he retired in 1995 after a prolific and successful career in finance. Prior to this engagement, he served as senior vice president of the Pacific division of Eaton’s Department Store for 17 years, manager of marketing for Canadian Pacific Airlines for 11 years, and an employee with Shell Canada Limited for one year.

Alongside his professional endeavors, Mr. Hudson was the former chair of the board of governors of Simon Fraser University from 1988 to 1990, chair of the board of trustees of St. Paul’s Hospital from 1983 to 1985, and a trustee of St. Paul’s Hospital from 1975 to 1985. He was also the president of the foundation board of Simon Fraser University, the regional director of the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews, the director of The Playhouse Theatre, the director of the Canadian Committee on the Pacific Basin Economic Council, and the president of the Canadian Club of Vancouver.

To prepare for his illustrious career, Mr. Hudson sought a formal education, first receiving a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and economics from the University of British Columbia in 1952. After leaving his mark on the financial world, he earned an honorary Doctor of Laws from Simon Fraser University in 1993.

A leading voice in the field, Mr. Hudson has maintained affiliation with several industry-related organizations, including as the current general campaign chair of the United Way of Greater Vancouver since 1974. In addition, he was the former member of the board of directors of the Vancouver Club from 1995 to 1999 and has been a member of the Canadian Club of Vancouver, the Vancouver Board of Trade, the Endowment Fund of YMCA of Greater Vancouver, the Canadian Football League, and British Pacific Properties Limited. Passionate about his community, he was also a voluntary leader of the YMCA, a voluntary leader of The Niagara Institute, and a member of the Vancouver Lawn and Tennis Club.

In recognition of his exceptional accomplishments, Mr. Hudson has amassed several accolades throughout his career. He was the recipient of the Big Block Award from the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, as well as the University Medal in Arts and Science by the University of British Columbia. Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who’s Who in 2018, he has further been listed in several editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who in the World.
