Peter Michael Demetriadi, Director of Anglo Danish Oil Company Limited, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in commodities trading.
Mr. Demetriadi has served in his current role since 1997 and has been involved in the trading and oil field more than four decades. He originally came into the industry when offered a fair paying job while he was considering joining the army. Once in the industry, he realized his interest in it and decided to continue pursuing it further. He started as a grain trader at Tradax in London, working in this role from 1975 to 1979. From 1979 to 1986, Mr. Demetriadi worked as a petrochemicals trader for Tradax S.A. in Switzerland. Following this, he was made a manager at Naptha Trading and then for the company Cargill. In 1987, he returned to England as the manager of Energy Futures at Cargill Investor Services, Ltd. Rounding out the 1980s and early 1990s, Mr. Demetriadi served as a Manager of Aromatics Trading, Mitsui & Co. His talent was then tapped at the general manager of Sunkyong Chemical Trading, Inc. and then as the managing director of Midland Petrochemical Ltd. From 2007 to 2014, Mr. Demetriadi also worked as a trading consultant for Tricon International, Ltd.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Scandinavian studies from UCL in 1975 with honors, Mr. Demetriadi was set up nicely for a career that would put him on the international stage. He holds a License in the Science of Nutrition from The Open University and has a Certificate in Finnish Language and Culture from Lappeenranta Summer University, and a Certificate in Petrochemical Feedstocks from the Oxford College of Petroleum Studies. Mr. Demetriadi is most proud of the time he exported up to half a million tonnes a year of new aromatics production from the USSR in the 1980s. The market was hardly aware of it. He credits his success to listening, discretion and being honest while upholding high standards and hard work.
Mr. Demetriadi maintains affiliation with the MCC, The Army and Navy Club, the Henley Royal Regatta, the Energy Institute and the Warmblood Breeders Studbook UK. Musically inclined, he once played the organ in a European Union-sponsored concert at the Anglican Church in Monaco. He is also an esquire with the Order of St. John. Looking toward the future, he endeavors to relay his work on the farm.
