With more than 55 years of professional experience in the legal industry, Mr. Hoffmeyer is a celebrated figure in his field. Commencing his career as a lawyer in a private practice for 19 years, he subsequently began serving as a senior partner and chief executive officer of Hoffmeyer & Semmelman, LLC, in 1982, dual roles in which he continues to serve to the present day. In his positions, Mr. Hoffmeyer focuses his practice on real estate and zoning law, corporate, estate planning, decedent’s estates, and elder law. In addition, he has served as an expert witness in matters related to real estate titles.

Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Hoffmeyer was a former adjunct professor in real estate law in the paralegal program at the Pennsylvania State University from 1978 to 2000 and an adjunct professor in real estate law at York College from 1980 to 1992. A frequent lecturer in his field, he has also been a prolific author, penning such works as “Abstractor’s Bible” in 1981, “Pennsylvania Real Estate Installment Sales Contract Manual” in 1981, “Real Estate Settlement Procedures” in 1982, and “Contracts of Sale” in 1984.

The president of the York chapter of the Pennsylvania Referral Exchange from 2016 to 2018, Mr. Hoffmeyer has maintained affiliation with several organizations, including the American Bar Association, the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the York County Bar Association and Bar Foundation of Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He was the chair of the small business support network with the York Chamber of Commerce from 1997 to 1999, past president of the York county chapter of Shriners, and past president of the East York Club of Lions Clubs International.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Hoffmeyer pursued a formal education, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from Franklin and Marshall College in 1958 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Dickinson School of Law at Pennsylvania State University in 1961. He has been admitted to practice in the state of Pennsylvania, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the Supreme Court of the United States.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of law, Mr. Hoffmeyer has accrued several accolades throguhout his career. Named One of the Best Lawyers in America every year since 2009, Philadelphia Magazine named him a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in Law and Politics and Public for four consecutive years. In addition, he was the recipient of a Medal from the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 1997 and the Distinguished Service Award from the General Alumni Association at the Dickinson School of Law at Pennsylvania State University in 1993.
