With nearly 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Fisher has served as vice president of governmental affairs with K. Hovnanian Homes since 2009, having held the same position with the Matzel & Mumford Organization from 1993 to 2009. Prior to obtaining these roles, he was vice president of development with Sammis Co./Gale & Wentworth from 1992 to 1993, director of regulatory affairs and principal planner with Ernst, Ernst & Lissenden from 1991 to 1992, and vice president of forward planning with the New Jersey Division of Leisure Tech, Inc., from 1987 to 1991. From 1983 to 1987, he was director of environmental affairs and planning for the New Jersey Builders Association, having held the same position from 1979 to 1981, and serving as a project planner with Ernst, Ernst & Lissenden in the intervening years of 1981 to 1983.

Mr. Fisher became involved in his field while studying geology at Susquehanna University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in geology in 1976. Under the influence of Professor George Fasic, he became highly interested in housing, transportation and environmental resources, completing coursework at Bucknell University in land use planning. Mr. Fisher continued his studies at the University of Cincinnati, earning a master’s degree in community planning in 1979. He is licensed as a professional planner in the state of New Jersey.

A respected voice in his community, Mr. Fisher has been active with a number of professional and civic organizations. A chartered member of the American Planning Association, he has also been a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the New Jersey State Planning Commission and the Citizen Committee of Permit Coordinators. He is the former chair of the Clean Water Council of New Jersey, the former president of the Shore Builders of Central New Jersey, and he has served on the board of directors, as an elected officer, and president of the New Jersey Builders Association. Mr. Fisher also works with his wife, Janice, to foster dogs, working to bring about change in the way puppy mills and breeders operate.
