Robert H. Beber, Retired Executive Vice President at W. R. Grace & Co., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in corporate law.

A former consultant at W. R. Grace & Co. for 13 years, Mr. Beber amassed more than 50 years of professional experience in his field prior to his retirement in 2011. Previously, he served W. R. Grace & Co. in several capacities, including as the executive vice president from 1993 to 1998, senior vice president, and general counsel from 1991 to 1993, vice president and director of litigation from 1989 to 1991, and assistant general counsel in litigation from 1988 to 1989. He formerly held the roles of senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary at Baldwin United Corporation from 1984 to 1988, as well as numerous positions with GAF Corporation, such as executive vice president and director from 1983 to 1984 and senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary from 1981 to 1983.

Likewise, Mr. Beber acted as assistant general counsel and vice president at REA Corporation from 1978 to 1981, staff member and vice president of the divisional counsel at RCA Corporation from 1972 to 1978, affiliate of RCA Technicolor from 1963 to 1981, and counsel at RCA Service Company from 1963 to 1972. He commenced his career as an attorney at the Small Business Administration in Washington, DC, from 1961 to 1963, and an associate at Everett, Everett & Everett from 1957 to 1958.

Locally, Mr. Beber has served as a member of the board of visitors at the School of Law with Duke University since 1996, and he previously held the roles of director of Advantage Bank from 1999 to 2003, chairman of the board at Health Care Plan of New Jersey from 1975 to 1978, and vice president of the Southern New Jersey Chamber of Commerce from 1974 to 1977. Additionally, he was affiliated with the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County and was a scholarship underwriter at the School of Law with Duke University.

To prepare for his celebrated career, Mr. Beber pursued a formal education at Duke University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1955 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1957. Soon thereafter, he enrolled in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961. He has been admitted to practice law in New York, North Carolina, and Florida. In addition, he has been certified as general counsel and a chief financial officer.

A longstanding member of the American Bar Association, Mr. Beber is proud of his creation of the Robert and Joan Beber Sculpture Garden at Duke University in 2007. However, the highlight of his career was when he was a general counsel at W. R. Grace & Co. Putting together a litigation team, he and the team developed an efficient, cost-saving effective disposition of extensive personal injury and property damage litigation. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to corporate law, Mr. Beber was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, and Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
