Dr. Frank Erik Goodwin, Executive Vice President at the International Lead Zinc Research Organization, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in materials engineering.
A celebrated figure in his field, Dr. Goodwin has amassed nearly 40 years of excellence in his areas of expertise. Currently serving as the director of technology and marketing developer of the International Zinc Association and the executive vice president of the International Lead Zinc Research Organization since 2004, he originally joined ILZRO in 1982 and witnessed the merger of IZA and ILZRO in 2000. Prior to his current appointment, he served ILZRO in several capacities, including as the vice president of materials science, manager of metallurgy and manager of development. He commenced his career as a plant engineer at Chambersburg Engineering Co. in Pennsylvania and a development director at Chromalloy Research & Technology in New York.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Goodwin pursued a formal education at Cornell University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in materials engineering in 1975. He concluded his education at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1979, earning a Doctor of Science in materials engineering. A prolific author, he holds several U.S. and foreign patents and has contributed more than 400 technical publications and chapters to books.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to engineering, Dr. Goodwin has accrued several accolades. Most recently, he earned the Lifetime Member Award from The Wire Association International, Inc., in 2017 and the Best Paper Award from the North American Die Casting Association in 2016. The winner of the Golden Jubilee Award from the India Lead Zinc Development Association in 2012, he also earned the Special Contribution Prize of Chinese Galvanizing Industry from the China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group Co., Ltd. in 2011. He was also the recipient of the Annual Award from the Galvanizers Association in 2009. Notably, he was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World.
