Ever since she was a child, Dr. Askins has been drawn to helping people become the best versions of themselves that they can be and naturally gravitated toward a field of work where she could create a climate where people had the opportunity to develop their own skills. Realizing that her passion laid in adult training and development, she attended the University of Cincinnati, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in education and a Master of Education in 1971 and 1972, respectively. Completing postgraduate coursework at a variety of institutions, including Walden University, Temple University and the University at Buffalo, Dr. Askins received a Doctor of Philosophy in training and performance improvement from Capella University in 2012.

Since 2005, Dr. Askins has been the executive director of the Center of Renewal Retreat & Conference Center, as well as the chief executive officer of the Askins Learning Institute since 2013. She is also a John Maxwell Certified Speaker, a Certified Coaching Practitioner, and a Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence. Active in her local community, she has also been a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America since 1984 and a session retreat facilitator with ABWA Management, LLC, since 2007.

In recognition of her exceptional contributions to professional development, Dr. Askins has accrued several accolades during the course of her impressive career. The recipient of the Excellence Award for Outstanding Research from the International Society for Performance Improvement in 2013, she also won the Top Five Business Women Award from ABWA Management, LLC, in 2010. In addition, she was named Woman of the Year by Business Professional Women of Clarksdale, MS, in 1999, and was honored with the President’s Award from the Greater Mainland Chamber of Commerce in 1983, among others. Notably, she has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who of American Women and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
