With incredible business acumen, Mr. Welch has found great success as a financial executive. He served as president and a member of board for The Silver Thistle, Ltd., from 1987 to 1995. Mr. Welch has been the vice president of finance and administration as well as the chief financial officer for the Association of the US Army from 1992 to 2000, also serving as the treasurer and chief financial officer from 1954 to 1992. Prior to these positions, Mr. Welch worked as an accountant for Lamon & Henderson from 1952 to 1954. His tremendous dedication to his work and perseverance amid difficult times has allowed Mr. Welch to excel in everything he has undertaken. In preparation for his exciting career, Mr. Welch earned a Bachelor of Commercial Science in 1952 as well as a Master of Commercial Service in 1953, both from Benjamin Franklin University.
Prior to earning these degrees, he attended George Washington University, intending to study law just as his father had. Unfortunately, Mr. Welch had been stricken with brucellosis and was consequently unable to complete his studies at George Washington University. He decided to change his focus from the study of law to the study of accountancy as a way to enter general business management. Related to his main pursuits, Mr. Welch lent his time and talents to both Prospect Management, Inc., as a planning consultant. He has been the Administrative Management Society Foundation founding president from 19801 to 1981 as well as a chairman and a trustee for the organization. Passionate about serving his nation, Mr. Welch has been a captain of the US Army from 1961 to 1962, earning a Decorated Armed Forces Reserve Medal for his efforts.
Additional accolades Mr. Welch has received include being named the eastern regional coordinator of the AARP Tax-Aide Program from 2011 to 2017 as well as chairman of the Arlington Committee of 100 in 1977. Furthermore, Mr. Welch has been a member of numerous organizations, including the Institute of Administrative Management in Great Britain and the Academy of Administrative Management. He has been affiliated with the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives, the American Society of Association Executives, and the American Finance Association. Mr. Welch has been the Chairman of the Washington Association Financial Management Roundtable from 1989 to 1990 and a member of the board from 1986 to 1991. Related to his main pursuits, Mr. Welch lent his time and talents to both Prospect Management, Inc., as a planning consultant and to the Administrative Management Society Foundation as its chairman and a trustee. In recognition of his success, Mr. Welch has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
