With nearly 40 years of professional excellence, Mr. Sharp is a respected figure in the realm of banking. Most recently serving as a lending consultant at The Merchants Bank of New York with Valley National Bank from 1996 until his retirement in 2001, he previously held the same role with Community Mutual Savings Bank from 1992 to 1996. Prior to these illustrious roles, he was vice president of the New York Job Development Authority from 1986 to 1991 and a vice president of the regular credit committee at Chemical Bank from 1976 to 1986, having formerly been with the bank since 1962.

To prepare for his illustrious career, Mr. Sharp pursued formal education at Denison University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1952. Thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving to the rank of sergeant until his honorable discharge in 1954. He subsequently attended Columbia University, receiving a Master of Arts in history in 1959. He entered his industry because the opportunity presented itself upon his graduation from college, thus establishing a foundation to a prominent and accomplished career.

Mr. Sharp was previously a trustee of the Village of Bronxville in New York from 1989 to 1991. A contributor of myriad articles to professional journals, he is also a certified economic developer emeritus. In an effort to remain aware of developments within his industry, he maintained affiliation with the Academy of Political Science. Likewise, he is also a member of Shenorock Shore Club, Skytop Club, Rotary International and Omicron Delta Kappa. He attributes his profound success to self-motivation, as he has always possessed the drive to succeed.

As a testament to his professional success, Mr. Sharp has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World. Notably, he was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the realm of banking. Looking toward the future, Mr. Sharp intends to enjoy his retirement.
