Laszlo Simovic, Architect at a Private Practice, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in architecture.
With more than 40 years of professional excellence, Mr. Simovic is a respected architect who has been serving in his own private practice in Chicago, IL, since 1989. Prior to this illustrious role, he was an architect with a number of firms throughout his career, including Loebl, Schlossman & Hackl from 1987 to 1989, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill from 1985 to 1987, and Imre & Anthony Halasz, Inc., from 1984 to 1985. He commenced his career as an architect with Marton Sass & Associates from 1974 to 1982.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Simovic pursued a formal education at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture in 1982. He subsequently studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technology soon thereafter, completing postgraduate coursework in 1984. He delved into his career path from an early age, having always enjoyed drawing. After taking a drafting class in high school, his father connected him with an established architect, and his career took flight.
A member of the Association of Licensed Architects, Mr. Simovic has worked on several buildings, including the façade of the 55-floor Citibank building in Queens, NY. In addition, he designed a bomb shelter in Naperville, IL; however, it was never completed. The highlight of his career was working on the high-rise Ivy Hotel. The project was a challenge for Mr. Simovic, as the client wanted a roof deck, which was difficult to accomplish. In addition, he is proud of his work with a cannabis dispensary due to the high level of security details.
Mr. Simovic attributes his success to his mentors, including the first architect for whom he worked, as well as his wife. He believes that success comes from understanding a client’s needs, being honest, and delivering a project on time. He is a native of Serbia and enjoys traveling, boating, fishing and snowmobiling in his spare time. Notably, Mr. Simovic has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the Midwest.
