Ms. Weiss is a renowned data security professional whose career has spanned nearly four decades. Serving as the senior information security analyst with the United Parcel Service of America, Inc., in Mahwah, NJ, since 2008, she specializes in performance capacity planning and has taken on a leadership role overseeing a team of six individuals. Managing mid-range platforms, she also audits access controls and 2,000 servers. Prior to this illustrious role, she served UPS as the lead systems programmer beginning in 1993. She commenced her career as a project manager with Kearfott Corporation from 1985 to 1987 and director of engineering services with Compact Software, Inc., from 1987 to 1991.
Alongside her primary endeavors, Ms. Weiss has additionally been involved with Toastmasters International, serving as the district 83 area 52 governor from 2013 to 2014 and the district 83 division E governor from 2011 to 2013. Previously, she was the district 83 area 51 assistant governor and Speak-UPS Club president from 2010 to 2011. Furthermore, she maintains affiliation with Computer Measurement Group, Inc., for which she has been a keynote speaker. She attributes her success to her tenacity, long-term vision and mentors, including her numerous sponsors and coaches who have inspired her to remain vigilant and determined as a woman in a male-dominated field.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Weiss pursued a formal education at the Tandon School of Engineering at New York University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and computer science in 1984. Soon thereafter, she attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she received a Master of Business Administration for scientists, engineers and technical executives in 1987. Along with holding a certification in performance capacity planning, Ms. Weiss also possesses an amateur radio extra license due to her interest and participation in HAM radio.
A member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, an organization which she considers to have made a poignant difference in her career, Ms. Weiss also maintains affiliation with the Association for Computing Machinery. When she is not busy with her work, she enjoys participating in several civic duties as a communications volunteer for the New York City Marathon and assistant director with ARRL. She also supports local 5K races and Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions to her industry, Ms. Weiss has received numerous accolades throughout her career. Named a Pathways Ambassador by Toastmasters International in 2017, the organization has also given her the Advanced Communicator Silver Award and the Advanced Leadership Bronze Award. Additionally, the National Association of Professional Women named her Woman of the Year in 2011. Looking toward the future, Ms. Weiss intends to continue being open to new opportunities and embracing change.
