Joseph Beemster, a retired Occupational Safety and Health Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of health care.

Dedicated to ensuring others’ safety, Mr. Beemster has excelled in his career as an occupational safety and health consultant, working diligently until his retirement in 2007. In preparation for his selfless career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from DePaul University in 1962 and completed coursework at the Illinois Institute of Technology from 1976 to 1977 and at the University of Minnesota from 1979 to 1980. He has specialized in loss control, employee safety, fire protection and accident prevention. Mr. Beemster has been the manager for Richard Oliver-Willis of Illinois from 1988 to 2007, previously serving as the corporate director of safety and health for Pacific Dunlop GNB, Inc., previously known as Gould, from 1978 to 1988.

Mr. Beemster spent decades with Johnson & Johnson in Chicago, mostly working as the manager of safety and security from 1988 to 2007 before his departure from the company. Prior to this role, he served as the manufacturing manager from 1967 to 1971 and production supervisor from 1962 to 1967. Sharing his expertise with others, Mr. Beemster wrote “Safe Work Practices for Workers Exposed to Lead” and has produced videotapes on health and safety training, his work appearing in Australia and New Zealand. His dedication to workplace safety has earned him membership with the American Society of Safety Engineers (now the American Society of Safety Professionals) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association.

In addition to his main pursuits Mr. Beemster has undertaken other responsibilities. He has held the position of president of the Wheeling Wheelmen, a bicycle club located in the Chicago suburban area that consists of approximately 250 members, and has served as chairman for the Human Relations Commission of Bolingbrook, IL, from 1971 to 1977. Delighted by people, Mr. Beemster has found joy in working with and uplifting people, persevering in all aspects and never giving up. Though he has helped numerous people and prevented a multitude of accidents, Mr. Beemster would have considered his work worth all the effort even if only one person had benefitted from his work.  In recognition of his notoriety, Mr. Beemster has been presented with The Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who In Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
