Edward Sowers Schweizer, Chief Executive Officer at Doc Smither’s Bed & Breakfast, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in entrepreneurship and naval defense.
Inspired by his father, who was a brigadier general in the United States Air Force, Mr. Schweizer aspired to serve in the Vietnam conflict and was commissioned to join the United States Navy Reserve. Considering the highlight of his career to have been performing secret operations off the coast of Vietnam, he rose to the rank of captain in the United States Navy between 1962 and 1988, when he was ultimately discharged from service.
Since his release from the military, Mr. Schweizer has served in a number of executive roles, including as the owner of ESS Insurance Services from 1989 to 2005 and director of administration, budget and facilities at the California Service Center with the United States Department of Justice from 1990 to 1995. In addition, he was commissioner of the city of Mission Viejo, CA, from 1990 to 1992 and again from 1997 to 2000, as well as on the parks and recreation committee of Chesapeake City, MD, from 2000 to 2004. Most recently, he has been holding the role of manager of Doc Smither’s Bed & Breakfast in Chesapeake City, a role he fulfills in the present day.
Due to his exquisite naval service, Mr. Schweizer is a lifetime member of the Surface Navy Association, the Navy League of the United States, the Association of the United States Navy and the Military Officers Association. A member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, he was also a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus from 1989 to 1990. Married to Suzan Lee Peterson since 1964, he is the proud father of three children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He enjoys fine art, international travel and exercise in his spare time.
