W. Randolph Hitchens, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Indiana Pharmacists Association, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the pharmaceutical industry.
Amassing more than 35 years of professional experience, Mr. Hitchens is a celebrated figure in the pharmaceutical industry, having commenced his career as a pharmacist and manager at Revco Drug in Fort Wayne, IN, from 1981 to 1983. After this illustrious opportunity, he transitioned to Boehringer Mannheim in Indianapolis, IN, working in numerous capacities over the course of 15 years, such as associate product manager, account manager, product manager, group marketing manager, senior group product manager, regional business manager, national accounts managed care, and director of corporate partnership between 1983 and 1998.
Soon thereafter, Mr. Hitchens served Roche in Indianapolis in a variety of roles, including corporate accountants director, national director of corporate accounts, director of sales and marketing, area business director, and national sales director between 1998 and 2009. From 2009 to 2015, he subsequently acted as the national sales director and senior vice president of business development at Dermal Life LLC. Since 2015, he has been the prominent executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Indiana Pharmacists Association. Alongside his primary endeavors, he was on the dean’s executive council of the Purdue School of Pharmacy.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Hitchens pursued a formal education at Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy in 1976. He subsequently received a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University in 1983. In an effort to remain aware of recent developments within the industry, he has maintained affiliation with the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacists, where he served on the legislative committee from 1997 to 1998 and the strategic marketing committee in 1999.
As a testament to his professional success, Mr. Hitchens has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who’s Who in the World. However, the highlight of his career was when he was selected to Roche’s Horizon Global Leadership Development Program via the London Business School, where he worked with a global team to present a strategic plan to Roche’s chief executive officer and executive committee.
