Robert Faull Wachs, Retired General Manager at Lexington Cemetery, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business management.
Drawing upon more than 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Wachs is a respected executive who most recently served as the general manager of Lexington Cemetery from 1973 until his retirement from the industry in 1997. Commencing his career at the cemetery in 1956, he served as a staff member until 1958, when he was promoted to assistant manager. He remained in this role for 15 years prior to his position as general manager.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Wachs was on the advisory board of the Salvation Army in Lexington, KY, for 23 years and currently remains associated with the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. Earlier in his career, he served with the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, and he earned a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Kentucky at the conclusion of his service in 1954.
Mr. Wachs maintains affiliation with the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboretums, the Cremation Association of North America, the Southern Cemetery Association and the American Cemetery Association. However, he is most proud of his work performed at the Lexington Cemetery, which was originally a ground burial cemetery until he became the manager. Under his direction, the cemetery installed its first mausoleum and crematory, one of the first in the state of Kentucky.
