Utilizing more than 40 years of experience, Mr. Wait is a prominent figure in the banking industry. Serving the Adirondack Trust Company for the entirety of his career, he commenced his career as an assistant vice president, secretary and treasurer from 1974 to 1984. Thereafter, he was president from 1984 to 2014. Alongside this appointment, he served as chief executive officer from 1989 to 2017, and he has been chairman of the board since 1989, a role he maintains today.

In addition to his primary endeavors, Mr. Wait has been the director of multiple entities, including the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership since 2014, the Museum of American Finance since 2011, and the New York Bankers Association since 1995. In the past, he held such roles as director of the Center for Economic Growth from 2012 to 2014, chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 2007 to 2010, and vice chairman of the New York Business Development Corporation in 2002, among many others. Notably, he served as chairman of the Saratoga Springs City Center Authority from 1983 to 1989, which he cites as a highlight of his career due to the significant impact he had on his community. Mr. Wait holds a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University, having subsequently completed coursework at the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking eight years later.

As a testament to his profound success, Mr. Wait has accrued numerous accolades throughout his career. Most recently named to the Hall of Distinction at Saratoga Springs High School in 2018, he received an honorary doctorate from State University of New York, Empire State College, in 2001. In addition, he was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Saratoga Springs Rotary Education Foundation in 2013, the Outstanding Business Leader Award from Northwood University in 2010, the Community Recognition Award from the Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council in 2008, and the Lucy Skidmore Scribner Award from Skidmore College in 2003. Earlier in his career, he was named Counsel of the Year by the American Institute of Banking in 1977 and received the Private Sector Initiative Award from President Ronald Reagan in 1984. Mr. Wait has been highlighted in the fourth edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America, as well as multiple editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World.
