Anne Perry, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in state government.
Ms. Perry was originally inspired by her own medical care she received as a child that later influenced her decision to return to school and become a nurse practitioner. She first earned a BSN from the University of Maine at Portland in 1970, and received a MSN in family practice from Husson College in 1998. Prior to receiving the master’s degree, Ms. Perry worked in both nursing and social work for a number of clinics, including Planned Parenthood, the Essex County Head Start Program, Adirondack Mountains Family Practice and Moses Ludington Hospital. After becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked at the CRMS Health Center, Discovery House in Washington County and the Family Practice of Laurie Churchill. She currently works as a family nurse practitioner at Calias Regional Medical Services. In addition to these endeavors, Ms. Perry has taken on a career in local politics.
Ms. Perry is currently a representative in the Maine House of Representatives. She represents District #140 which encompasses the areas of Baileyville, Calais, Charlotte, Passamaquoddy Indian Township, Passamaquoddy Pleasant Point, Pembrooke, Perry, Robbinston and Baring Plantation. She previously served in the Maine State Legislature from 2003 to 2010 and in this time was the House chair of the Joint Standing Committees on Insurance & Financial Services and Health & Human Services. She currently serves on the Health & Human Services Committee, the Substance Abuse Services Committee, and the Task Force for Healthcare for All Maine.
In all of her endeavors, Ms. Perry has been ardent in helping others. After becoming a nurse practitioner, she diagnosed four cases of Hepatitis C during a time where there was a significant increase in her county. She has also helped educate her community and future health practitioners as an Adjunct Professor of Health Policy at Husson University. From 2016 to 2018, she served as the president of the Maine Nurse Practitioner Association and she has been involved in a number of different organizations including the Eastern Maine Health Systems, Washington County: One Community, the University of Maine at Machias, the Neighbors Against Drug Abuse and the Coalition for Family Peace in Washington County among several other organizations. In 2005, she was recognized as the Nurse Practitioner of the Year in Maine and in February 2019 she received an award from the Maine Chapter of the American Nursing Association in Nursing Leadership and Advocacy.
