Chris A. Lockwood, Ph.D., Emeritus Associate Professor of Management at Northern Arizona University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in management and higher education.
Drawing upon more than 30 years of industry experience, Dr. Lockwood served Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff for the duration of his career, commencing his tenure as a faculty member in 1987 and retiring as an emeritus associate professor of management in 2011. During this time, he also held the roles of director of the Master of Business Administration program and the management area coordinator. In his unique positions, Dr. Lockwood has been an educator for both undergraduate and graduate students in organization assessment, strategic management, organization theory and human resources, among other practice areas.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Lockwood pursued formal education at Chaminade University of Honolulu, earning a Bachelor of General Studies in 1980. He subsequently attended Arizona State University in Tempe, where he received a Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Philosophy in 1982 and 1991, respectively. Over the years, he has co-authored two books, “Making Measurement Work” and “Top Management Game,” and authored more than 30 professional journal articles and refereed and published proceedings papers. Likewise, he has conducted presentations at myriad professional and civic meetings in his areas of expertise.
To remain abreast of recent developments in the field, Dr. Lockwood has maintained affiliation with numerous organizations, including the Academy of Management, the American Society for Quality and the Academy of Educational Leadership. He has additionally maintained involvement with the Arizona Governor’s Advisory Council on Quality, having most recently served as a judge for the Governor’s Award for Quality for 20 consecutive years. In addition to his vocational endeavors, he previously served the United States Navy from 1964 until his honorable discharge as an electronics technician chief petty officer in 1980.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the fields of management and education, Dr. Lockwood received the Distinguished Research Award from the Academy of Educational Leadership in 2009. Furthermore, he has been highlighted in the seventh edition of Who’s Who in American Education, the 35th edition of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, and the 54th and 60th editions of Who’s Who in America.
