Ms. Anderson has demonstrated versatility in myriad aspects of her career, drawing upon her natural affinity for diligence and passion in her work. Commencing her career as a water safety instructor and trainer for the American Red Cross, she later served the Pillsbury Company as an executive secretary from 1953 to 1960 before returning to water safety instructing in both Ohio and Minnesota from 1962 to 1970. Transitioning to more executive roles, she was employed by CMS Contel, where she served as a construction management systems analyst and forecasting analyst for future telephone needs. Employed by the company for 20 fruitful years, she later became the independent owner of her own company, Decorating Den Franchise, which she ran for a decade before her retirement in 2002.
During her tenure at CMS Contel, Ms. Anderson studied for specific areas to ensure that employees were effective in their roles. She also served as the only woman in training with the men in her department. Having enjoyed a longstanding, rewarding career, she maintains affiliation with the National Juried Exhibitions for the NorthStar Watermedia Society as chair since 2014 and was the former president of the Monterey Jacks Toastmasters in 1984. Civically involved, she has contributed to her community through the American Red Cross, Parkview United Church of Christ and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, where she further exhibited versatility by serving as a choral vocalist, soloist and pianist.
Ms. Anderson was named Toastmaster of the Year in Woodbury, MN, in 1981 for her contributions to her community. Enjoying watercolor painting in her spare time, she has been married to Robert William Anderson since 1973 and has eight children, 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Notably, she was highlighted in the 15th and 16th editions of Who’s Who of American Women.
