Drawing upon more than five decades of experience, Ms. Gallagher has been serving as a nursing history and university archivist at Boston University since 2000. At the inception of her career, she was a partner at Bare Cove Art Gallery and newspaper columnist at the South of Boston Mirror, where she wrote a column on women for three years. Demonstrating versatility in her profession, she soon acted as a television talk show host for WBZ-TV, placement director at the Katharine Gibbs School and human resources representative at Wang Laboratories. In addition, she cites being appointed commissioner by the governor to the Governor’s Commission on the Status of Women and by President Carter to the International Women’s Year Commission as crowning achievements.

The recipient of a Distinguished Alumni Award from Colby-Sawyer College, President Carter also presented her with the Lillian Carter Award in recognition of her contributions to her community.
