Linda Eardley Hollis, Urban Planning Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in fiscal and economic planning.

After getting married in 1970, Mrs. Hollis and her husband Daryl, moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where she began working for a bank. When she realized she was up for a promotion to branch manager, Mrs. Hollis declined and became interested in working in planning. She applied for a job but soon learned it required a master’s degree. While she had earned a Bachelor of Arts from Pennsylvania State University in 1968, she returned to school to receive a Master in Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. In 1979, she earned the degree and began working as an urban planning researcher. From 1983 to 1997, Mrs. Hollis contributed her skills as a consultant for Tischler & Associates. She then spent the next three years as the Director of Developmental Policy with the Urban Land Institute before becoming an independent planning consultant. In 2006, she joined the Fairfax County Department of Planning & Zoning as a senior planner and remained in this position until 2013.

In addition to these positions, Mrs. Hollis co-authored a chapter to Suburban Remix: Creating the Next Generation of Urban Places in 2018 and has co-authored the 2002 paper, Open Space Protection: Conservation Meets Growth Management. In 2011, she was recognized with the Burnham Award for Best Comprehensive Plan in the United States by the American Planning Association. She also served as on the board of directors of the American Planning Association from 1986 to 1988, and considers it to be one of the highlights of her career. On a civic level, she has been involved with the Potomac Green Condominium Unit Owners Association, the Partnership for a Healthier Fairfax and the Fairfax County Commission of Organ & Tissue Donation & Transplantation.
