With a love for humanity and a desire to serve the world at large, Mr. Abuzaakouk knew he wanted a career that put his passion for people to good use. He has held numerous positions that have allowed him to do so, including serving as president of Guidance for Consulting and minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Tripoli, Libya. He has dedicated his career to promoting peace as Libya’s president of Parliament, the executive director of the American Muslim Council and the director of the Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy at the Washington office, among other esteemed positions. In preparation for these endeavors, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism with honors from the University of Cairo in 1968, a Master of Arts in communication from Stanford University and a Master of Arts in Middle East studies and Islamic studies from the University Michigan as well as completing coursework with the University of Iowa.

Mr. Abuzaakouk is pleased with all he has accomplished over the course of his career and is glad to have completed invaluable humanitarian work. He is a founding member of the National Front for the Salvation of Libya, a member of the Libyan League for Human Rights, Amnesty International and is both a founder and member of the board of directors of the Network of Democrats in the Arab World. He has lent his expertise as an editor for Al INQAD, Al Muslim Al Dimuqrati, Al Muntada Al Libi, Democracy Watch, Libya Forum and Al-Muwatanah. Furthermore, Mr. Abuzaakouk has been an elected member to the Faculty Arts Academic Council of Libya, chairman of the first Congress of the Libyan Students in North America and president North America News Media in Fairfax, VA. Married to his wife, Fawzia Faraj Annahly Abuzaakouk since 1972, he has four children and is the proud grandfather of six grandchildren. As a testament to his success, Mr. Abuzaakouk has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who In Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Entertainment, Who’s Who in the Media and Communication, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who in the World.
