Title: Vice President of Corporate Communications (Retired)
Company: Sequa Corporation
Location: Boynton Beach, Florida, United States
Linda Kyriakou, Retired Vice President of Corporate Communications at the Sequa Corporation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in communications.
Interested in communications from a young age, Ms. Kyriakou believed early on that the only way there would be a possibility of international understanding was if we communicated effectively with one another. Looking into the private sector after realizing opportunities to go into the government were limited, she first worked for Booke & Company in New York City in 1969 under the tutelage of Martha Dalrymple. Serving as an account executive and director of research after first being hired as a secretary, Ms. Kyriakou was taught the fundamentals of business, which established the foundation for the rest of her career. After serving in these roles, she began a manager of public relations for CTI Finance Corporation from 1975 to 1979. She commenced her tenure with the Sequa Corporation in 1979, first acting as the director of corporate communications. Holding the role for nearly a decade, she subsequently ascended the ranks to vice president of corporate communications from 1988 until her retirement in 2007. She was the first woman to be elected vice president of the corporation, which she cites as a career highlight.
The recipient of a Bachelor of Arts from Hunter College, Ms. Kyriakou maintained affiliation with the Public Relations Society of America, the Women’s Bond Club of New York, where she sat on the board of governors, and the National Investor Relations Institute, where she sat on the board of directors. As a testament to her success, she was the recipient of the Twin Award, which was a tribute to women in the industry, in 1985. In addition, she was featured in Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
