An award-winning professional recognized nationally for his expertise, Mr. Schoen has been providing top-of-the-line benefit design, sales and administration services for more than five decades. He established his consultancy, Schoen-APS, after leading his former consultancy, A Pension Store, Inc., to tremendous success in Miami in 1966. Mr. Schoen admits that it is because of his hard work, education and discipline that he has found success. Prior to his professional journey, he served in the U.S. Navy for five years, where he learned that his unwavering work ethic is innate to who he is as a person. After completing his service, he attended the University of Miami, where he achieved a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Business Administration. He further supported his career by becoming a certified financial advisor, an enrolled retirement plan agent, and a certified flexible compensation consultant.
To share his insights on a national scale, Mr. Schoen has published more than 250 columns for the Business Leader newspaper. He has consulted and appeared on radio and television shows, including “Business News and Views You Can Use,” and “Main Street Wall Street.” His work has afforded him many opportunities to go beyond what is normally expected of a pensions and benefits consultant. He has appeared before members of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee and he was selected as a coordinator and instructor for the American Society of Pension Actuaries (now ASPPA) and the IAFP.
In recognition of his tremendous efforts and contributions to his field, Mr. Schoen was the recipient of countless awards and accolades. Notably, he received a Community Service award from Prudential Insurance, a CFC Designation from the Employers Council on Flexible Compensation and he was named Outstanding Young Man of the Year by Optimists. He remains at the top of his field today through his memberships with prominent industry organizations. He is an associate member of the American Society of Pension Actuaries, a fellow of the Life Underwriters Training Council, and a qualifying life member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Additionally, he affiliates with the International Association of Financial Planners, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and the Employers Council on Flexible Compensation. Looking ahead, Mr. Schoen intends to continue to provide incredible pension and benefits services while taking on exciting opportunities that come his way.
