Archer Edgar, Insurance Association Executive and Researcher, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in economic statistics.
Mr. Edgar grew up on a citrus farm and upon living an agrarian life became most interested in the business side of agriculture. At age 20, he left Jamaica to pursue his career in agricultural economics, immigrating to America. He earned a BSc in agricultural economics at the University of Connecticut in 1963, and an MSc in the same major in 1965. From there, he joined the Life Insurance Marketing Research Association as a senior research associate. He remained at the company throughout his career, becoming the Vice President in 1991. Throughout his years at the company, he also served as the Second Vice President, the Assistant Vice President, Director of Manpower and Research, Director of Market Research and as a scientist and assistant scientist. In recognition of his work, Mr. Edgar is the recipient of the Hometown Hero Award, bestowed to him by Simsbury, CT.
In support of his work, Mr. Edgar has maintained affiliation with the American Economic Association. Additionally, he is a fellow of the American Leadership Forum which has also been instrumental in his development. Since 1978, he has been a member of the Simsbury Democratic Town Committee and has served on various board for the town. The highlight of Mr. Edgar’s career, thus far, has been developing a program that created the first statistical measurement of agent performance for his company, which still exists to this day.
