Temple Sloan, Jr., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in investments and entrepreneurship.
With more than 60 years of professional experience, Mr. Sloan is highly regarded in the Raleigh, NC, area for his integrity and expertise in investment management. He is an award-winning executive who has been recognized by the likes of the Raleigh Hall of Fame, the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the North Carolina Entrepreneur Hall of Fame, and the North Carolina Business Hall of Fame, among many others. Today, he finds success as the founder and chairman of Trail Creek Investments, Inc., a financial advising firm that he established in 2009 after achieving much success in his career. At the same time, Mr. Sloan operates as chairman of Highwood Properties, Inc., a real estate investment entity. He has been in this role since 1994 after having co-founded the practice in 1978. Known for his success as a serial entrepreneur, Mr. Sloan is marked with having begun many other businesses in the region including the Southern Equipment Company and General Parts International. When asked of his accomplishments, he notes that he feels lucky to have a hard work ethic that has allowed him to propel small businesses to success. In addition, he credits the foundation of knowledge that his education provided him, which includes an LLD from Northwood University and a BBA from Duke University.
Mr. Sloan’s top skills have led him in achieving incredible opportunities with large corporations throughout his career. He has served on the board of directors for Golden Corral, an American family-style restaurant chain, as well as Lowe’s Companies, an American retail company specializing in home improvement, and Bank of America Corporation, an American multinational investment bank and financial services company. In recognition of his wide array of accomplishments in his career, Mr. Sloan was the recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.
Outside of his professional work, Mr. Sloan is incredibly involved with the Boy Scouts of America. Today, he is an officer of the National Advisory Board, a role that he has volunteered in since 2014. Previously, he contributed to the organization as a member of its Occoneechee Council, chairman of its Santa Fe Trail Campaign at the Philmount Scout Ranch, member of the National Executive Board, and vice president of the supply group. In recognition of his work with the Boy Scouts of America, Mr. Sloan received a Silver Buffalo Award, a Silver Antelope Award, a Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, a District Award of Merit, and a Silver Beaver Award. Mr. Sloan has also been involved as chair of numerous campaigns with the YMCA for Southeast Raleigh, as well as trustee for a number of institutions and organizations including St. Andrews University, William Peace University, and the Boys & Girls Homes of North Carolina. As he looks ahead to the future, Mr. Sloan plans for continued success in his career while seeking new opportunities to give back to local community
