He has served on many charitable boards and has been the director of Merrill Lynch Asset Management from 1897 to 2002, a member of the advisory board for Asian Strategies Group in 1994 and in 2003, he helped establish a bank that is now called The Truxton Trust. He holds a membership with the Tennessee Bar Association, the Nashville Bar Association, the Panel of Neutrals, the American Arbitration Association and Eagle Scout Association, among other organizations, and has previously served as president of the Tennessee Historical Society and the Nashville chapter of the Rotary Club.
