Andre J. Francois, PhD, CEO and Psychologist at The Bilingual Child Study Team, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in special services for children.
Throughout his career spanning more than five decades, Dr. Francois has remained passionate about helping children. In his current endeavors, he utilizes this experience as the CEO and director of The Bilingual Child Study Team, an organization that serves the needs of special education children, and as the founder of the Institut of Dr. Andre J. Francois, a Haiti-based organization that offers disadvantaged children who have no access to regular schooling the opportunity to have an education. In his longstanding career, Dr. Francois has always worked with children, from his days as a school psychologist with the Weehawken Township Board of Education and with the Elizabeth Board of Education. Furthermore, Dr. Francois has presented at workshops and worked as a bilingual evaluator and psychologist.
The story behind the Institut of Dr. Andre J. Francois begins with Dr. Francois’ own childhood. He grew up in Saint Louis du Nord, Haiti, where the organization is located. He opened the doors to the organization in 2017 with the goal to offer disadvantaged children who have no access to a regular school the opportunity to be exposed to education. The mission of this program is to promote literacy in an environment conducive to growth and help get children off the streets. The other schools that function in the community have tuition, so families with no money cannot afford to send their children to school. He is the sponsor of the school; sending money to pay the teachers that provide the instruction. They provide free meals and free books to the students. He supports appropriate education for everyone. The school provides education from Pre-K through 8th grade right now. Every year as needed they will open another grade to go through high school. These children have no access to electricity, running water, or a decent home, so he provides this through the school.
In his own academic pursuits, Dr. Francois earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and continued at Norwich University to receive a Master of Arts in counseling psychology. In 1997, he received a PhD in clinical psychology from Union Institute University. In 2018, Dr. Francois was recognized as Executive of the Year in Special Education. He also maintains professional affiliation with the National Association of School Psychologists. Dr. Francois would like to be remembered as someone who is supportive and as someone who worked tirelessly to have education for every child that is born.
