Prior to him working at CMHA, he worked for the city of Cleveland in the public sector for about 13 years. He started as an intern in labor relations doing various different positions. Altogether, Mr. Patterson possesses nearly three decades of experience and attributes his success to working with a great and passionate team of people who enjoy serving others.
To prepare for a career in public service, Mr. Patterson first earned a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Union College. He continued his studies at Baldwin Wallace College, whereupon he received an MBA. His commitment to public service transcends his work with the CMHA, and he has also provided his abilities to The Greater Cleveland Food Clinic, the American Heart Association, the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center and St. Luke’s Foundation. For his work, Mr. Patterson received the Non-Profit Executive Director of the Year award from Smart Business Magazine in 2018. Furthermore, he has received the Ohio City Presidential Award and the Campus District Visionary Award.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Patterson endeavors to continue expanding the services provided by the CMHA. He aims to bolster digital inclusion for low-income residents with high-speed, low cost internet access. In this venture, he is not only aided by his years of experience, but with his professional affiliations. These affiliations include the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officers and the Housing Authority Insurance Group. He also credits his success to having built a good solid work ethic, while maintaining motivation and focus. In his professional endeavors, Mr. Patterson hopes to be remembered as someone who put others first and did the best he could to improve the quality of life to the people he served.
