James Christy, Wealth Advisor at Northwest Financial, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in financial and legal services.
For Mr. Christy, practicing law was an opportunity to contribute to public service. After graduating from law school and completing his Army service, he came to the U.S. House of Representatives and worked in Congress. It was part of his desire to be involved in public policy and serve the citizens of Ohio. In addition, he was influenced to serve the public by growing up and watching his two public-spirited uncles who were Ohio lawyers and for whom he had great reverence. Since 2003, Mr. Christy has provided his services as a wealth advisor to clients throughout the United States. Prior to this position, he worked as senior vice president of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association of America. He held similar public affairs and government relations roles with TRW Inc., Air Products & Chemicals Inc. and the U.S. Department of the Interior. Earlier in his career, Mr. Christy engaged in the private practice of law in suburban Cincinnati.
Mr. Christy pursued his career through his scholarly endeavors. He first earned a BBA from the University of Cincinnati in 1969 and continued at the institution to receive a JD in 1972. Following this, he served to the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army. In the U.S. House of Representatives, Mr. Christy started as a legislative assistant in 1973. He continued as an administrative assistant from 1975 to 1976 and later served as a counsel on the Committee on Energy and Commerce from 1981 to 1984. In 1980, he was a candidate for a seat in Congress from Ohio’s 6th Congressional District. Furthermore, Mr. Christy served as chairman of the board of governors for the Bryce Harlow Foundation and on the board of visitors for the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
Known for the quality of his work in his profession, Mr. Christy received the 5-Star Wealth Management Award in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. His work has been aided by his longstanding professional affiliations. These memberships include the National Association of Manufacturers, the Business-Government Relations Council, the University of Cincinnati College of Law Alumni Association and the U.S. Capitol Historical Society. Furthermore, Mr. Christy founded The Ohio Forum. In five years, Mr. Christy sees himself winding down his professional career. He believes there comes a time when you want to focus on other things, principally spending more time with his grandchildren and his beloved wife, Grace.
